On June 29, 2007, the first iPhone was released. In April 3, 2010, the iPad 1 was released. In less than 8 years, smartphones and tablets have invaded even the most remote areas of the world. The younger generation’s life revolves around their smartphone. A majority of people that had never touch a computer now use a smartphone and/or a tablet. The ones that do not are viewed as outdated.
Considering that digital technologies are growing exponentially, what can we expect in the next five years? According to predictions, we should expect a transformation of many aspects of our lives! We better get ready and get on-board, if we don’t want to become overwhelmed.
I am not a futurist. This is why I invite you to listen to the following YouTube video of a keynote presentation, on digital transformation, automation and robotics, given by futurist Gerd Leonhard, at a KPMG symposium, in Chicago, in the summer of 2015.
It is 1:15 long. Please take the time. You should not regret it.
Viewing this video will make you realize how transformative the digital technology will be in the coming years. You will realize how dramatic the affects will be on the economy, the work environment and our lives. The key point is that most of these technologies are available today. It is therefore not that futuristic. Due to the fact that these developments are exponential, our world will transform at an increasing fast pace. That’s the scary part. Just remember how fast the smartphones invaded our lives. It’s going to be FASTER!
This does not scare the younger generations that can learn and adapt to new technologies very quickly. What it should be is a wakeup call to the older generations to get on board and learn and adapt as much as they can to this technological revolution! One good place to start is by reading the articles on Web site to learn how to adapt and take advantage of these technologies.
